Little Green Button vs. your clinical system alternative

SystmOne, Vision and Emis Web have all introduced their own panic buttons. However, we believe they are still miles behind the Little Green Button. If you are considering moving away from LGB please consider the following points first:

The Little Green Button is always available from the moment you log into your PC. It does not require you to be logged into any other program.

It floats above every program that you have running so can always be accessed quickly in an emergency regardless of what you are working on.

Remember that a panic button is there to initiate a request for assistance but more importantly it must have people who are able to respond. Often the responding users do not need to use clinical or appointment systems or they may have exited the program. Alert messages also displayed above every program that you are running.

When Little Green Button is triggered there is an optional audible alarm.

Little Green Button will still work even on the rare occasion that your clinical system goes down or internet connection is lost. Some clinical systems require you to login again if you have not moved your mouse in a while.

Each Little Green Button is given a location name by yourselves so it is very easy for staff to understand where assistance is required. Just displaying a person's name is not ideal, someone may not always work in the same room.

The software lets you know the moment that someone responds to an alert and gives you their location also.

You can easily programme one keyboard function key to activate the button too for example F3.

Your organisation can be divided into groups so not everyone in the building is alerted if this is appropriate.

If you feel physical buttons are more appropriate for given situations, for example, for those users that work away from their computer then we sell panic switches which attach to the PC on a length of cable and can be installed anywhere in the room, even in the room next door if necessary! A panic switch can be purchased for just £10.00 (ex VAT) so is a far cheaper option than a traditional panic alarm system.

Our standard licence covering up to 50 PCs costs just £100.00 (ex VAT) per year, this fee has been kept at this rate for many years now and we do not foresee any price hikes in the near future.

We are always looking at ways to improve our software so if there is a function that you feel would be beneficial please do let us know. If we can ever be of assistance in the future please do not hesitate to contact us.

New Feature - Create your own Secure Online Patient Forms / Questionnaires

We have just added the capabilty for you to be able to add your own Secure Online Patient Forms / Questionnaires.

You are able to ask 5 different types of questions:

- Patient can only choose one of the answer that you have provided (radio buttons)
- Patient can choose multiple answers from those that you have provided (tick boxes)
- Patient should type their own answer (small answer box)
- Patient should type their own answer (large answer box)
- Patient should type a date in the format dd/mm/yyyy

When a patient fills in your form/questionnaire a notification of a new request is sent to an email address of your choice. The results are kept in your secure logs.

This page will be https secure for your patients.

This would be perfect, for example, for you to add your own Travel Questionnaire or a New Patient Questionnaire. We had thought about adding these two forms for you but we found that different surgeries wanted to ask different questions. We decided to just let you add your own!

To add one to your website please see the forum topic Add my own online patient form/questionnaire within How do I...?.

We advise you test your Little Green Buttons in the same way you test your fire alarm.

Make sure your staff know how to use LGB. They need to double click on the button and see the button turn red. If the button does not turn red then no onen has received an alert.

Testing the button also helps to make sure that location names have been changed if PCs have been moved about. To change/check the location name of an LGB simply right click on it and go to 'settings'. This is the location that will be displayed on the panic alerts if anyone activates the panic button on this particular PC so it should be a unique name that all your staff will easily understand and will direct them to this location quickly.

So some good examples of locations are:
Main Reception
Consulting Room 1
Practice Manager's Office

You should avoid using IP Addresses and computer names as these may not be familiar to the majority of your staff. You should also avoid people's names as people can move about:
192.168.100.231
COMP_123
Janet Jones

If for any reason you find your Little Green Buttons are not working for you please call our support team on 01263 834648. We are open between 8 am and 5 pm on week days.

Many thanks to Victoria and the team at Wiggly Amps. I was astounded at the speed with which our new site was developed and the attention to detail and overall quality of the end product. The management interface is powerful yet simple to use and makes me wonder why I bothered trying to develop and maintain our old site for as long as I did when Wiggly Amps have been able to surpass anything I could achieve on my own in a fraction of the time.

Many thanks for helping us move this project forward with such skill and speed. Highly recommended!
