Thumbs Up Scrolling News Box (feature added Jan 2010)
Keep your patients up to date with your Surgery News and the latest Health News!

Perhaps you would like to inform you patients about a new member of staff or a change in your opening hours. Did you know you can display this in a scrolling News Box on your website? With the scrolling News Box your patients will also be able to click to read the latest Health News from the BBC, Yahoo, WHO and WHO Swine Flu.

To put a scrolling News Box on your website:

Log into your Website Management Console.

Go to Website Content Management

and click on Options.

Check the On radio button next to Display scrolling News Box.

You will need to save changes and then you will be taken back to your website content management page.

You will see the scrolling News Box has appeared on the right hand side. To edit the text simple click on the edit button underneath the News Box. You can add text, links and images to your News box.

Things to be aware of:
  • When adding an image remember it will need to be quite small. The maximum width is 140px otherwise the image will not fit inside the News Box.
  • When adding a link you need to set the target to be 'open in a new window (_blank)' or 'open in parent window / frame (_parent)' otherwise the link will open within the News box.
  • Also when adding a link will need to be careful of character length. It is best to type the text 'click here' rather than typing the website address. The maximum number of characters is 24 per line. If the website you are linking to has an address longer than 24 characters then it will not fit inside the News Box. For example http://www.securesurgerywebsite.co.uk (30 characters).
